Asiago Italian Wings

Everyone’s tried garlic parmesan wings, but what about asiago Italian? This fun take on a classic wing flavor is fun, funky and flavorful! They’re easy to bake in the oven and work well as an appetizer, snack, or paired with another wing flavor for a great meal. Simple ingredients make this recipe an easy weeknight treat. Who doesn’t love wing night?!

My wing recipes are always written for two people. This encourages you to try to make more than one flavor if you’re cooking for a family! OR just double (or triple, etc) this recipe to suit your needs.

Prep Time: At least 1 hour

Cook Time: 55 minutes

Level: Easy/Medium

Ingredients - serves 2

  • 2 pounds of chicken wings (about 14 pieces or 7 whole wings)

  • 2 tbsp. olive oil

  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice, separated

  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano

  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder

  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup shredded asiago cheese

  • Kosher salt and black pepper

  • Optional: additional asiago and fresh parsley for plating

  1. In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, 1 tbsp. of lemon juice, oregano, onion powder, garlic powder, a couple pinches of Kosher salt and some black pepper. Pour into a large ziplock bag or large tupperware and add the wings. Shake until wings are coated, and let marinate for at least an hour, but more is better!

  2. When ready to cook, preheat the oven to 400. Line a baking sheet with tin foil and grease the foil (do NOT forget to grease, you’ll regret it! The skin will stick to the foil).

  3. Place the marinated wings separated from one another on the baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes.

  4. While the wings bake, make the additional sauce: combine mayonnaise, 1 tbsp. lemon juice, asiago, a pinch of salt, and some black pepper. Mix well in a large mixing bowl (one that will eventually fit all of the wings, too) and set aside.

  5. Take wings out after 45 minutes and let cool for about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, ensure the oven rack is in the middle and turn the oven to a broil.

  6. Place wings in the bowl with the mayo and cheese mixture and gently mix until fully coated. Place wings back on the baking sheet, pouring any residual sauce over them.

  7. Let wings broil for about 5-8 minutes - until they’re bubbly and brown! Remove from oven and serve warm.

Plating: Shred some extra asiago cheese and roughly chop up some fresh parsley to top wings. Yum!
