Cooking Around the World for Kids
Wednesdays from September 15th through December 1st, 11am
Join us for a 12 week virtual cooking class series designed just for kids! In this fall’s series, we will feature the food of different nations around the world, focusing on a different dish from a different county each week. Classes will all be virtual and can be done from anywhere. And while it is virtual, class will be live and interactive with me, Margie Kendall, a virtual and in-person cooking class instructor and recipe developer with several years of experience teaching kids cooking skills. All you need is a way to Zoom in your kitchen and food ingredients so kids can cook along. Below you’ll find all of the class details, as well as the projected schedule for the course.
Dates: Every Wednesday at 11am from 9/15 through 12/1.
Cost: $100 for the entire course per household. Food costs are separate, but I will always do my best to keep it as affordable as possible. Payment plans can be set up to cover class cost. Additionally, if this cost is prohibitive to your participation, please reach out. I want anyone who would like to participate to be able to do so.
Suggested Age Range: The class will be tailored in such a way that middle high and high schoolers could do the class with no assistance. Anyone younger can participate, but I might suggest having some parent/guardian assistance. I generally leave this up to the parents, as kids of all ages have different cooking abilities. Please note we will be doing light knife work, as well as using a stove top and oven most weeks. Questions about your child(ren) participating? Ask me!
Structure: Class will last about 1-1.5 hours each week, and some weeks, there might be some pre-class work. I will communicate this before every class! If I expect class to go longer, I will give parents a heads up. The weekend before each class, I will send a shopping/ingredients list, as well as the Zoom link to join the class. I will also be creating a private Facebook page for parents to join where they can ask questions, see ingredients lists, share photos of completed dishes, etc, to make the course feel a bit more interactive!
Dietary Needs/Ingredients: Most all classes will have a vegetarian alternative, but I cannot guarantee the ability to provide a suitable alternative for other needs (gluten free, vegan, keto, etc, etc). All dishes will be curated in such a way to be kid friendly, but still delicious for the whole family! If your kid is unsure of a dish, this might be a great way for them to explore it. Nothing like making something yourself!
