Strawberry Sriracha BBQ Glazed Wings

It’s strawberry time! Why not put them on some wings? This recipe combines natural sweetness with a little bit of heat for a unique wing sauce that will have you questioning all other BBQ sauces you’ve had before. The recipe is written for baking, but they can also be grilled. This is summer on a platter!

My wing recipes are always written for two people. This encourages you to try to make more than one flavor if you’re cooking for a family! OR just double (or triple, etc) this recipe to suit your needs.

Prep Time: At least 1 hour

Cook Time: Baked 55 minutes, Grilled 30-35 minutes

Level: Medium

Ingredients - serves 2

  • 2 pounds of full chicken wings (7-8 wings)

  • 1/2 lb. fresh strawberries

  • 2 1/2 tbsp. honey

  • 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar

  • 2 tbsp. Sriracha sauce

  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

  • Kosher salt and black pepper

  • Optional: additional fresh strawberries for plating

  1. In a blender or food processor, combine the strawberries, honey, apple cider vinegar, Sriracha, Worcestershire sauce, a big pinch of Kosher salt and a little black pepper. Blend until smooth.

  2. Add chicken wings and sauce to a bag or large bowl. Combine well and let marinate for an hour or as long as overnight.

  3. When ready to cook, pre-heat oven to 400. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and grease the foil (don’t forget this! You will regret it if so!) Take just the wings out of the marinade and place on the baking sheet. Save residual marinade: pour into a bowl and set aside - we’ll be using it later to add more flavor to the wings!.

  4. Bake wings for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven, and brush on more marinade on all sides of each wing. Place back in the oven for 15 more minutes.

  5. Bring wings back out, ensure oven rack is in the middle, and turn the oven to a broil. Brush or pour remaining glaze on the wings (or add wings and remaining sauce to a large bowl and mix with a rubber spatula). Once the broiler is heated up, place wings in the oven and let broil for about 5-8 minutes. You’ll know they’re ready when the skin is lightly bubbling and you’re getting some char on the wings. Take out and serve warm!

Plating: Add some fresh strawberries to your plate or serving dish. A nice pop of freshness is great with these!

  • Grill these wings, too! Place them on a hot grill and a few times throughout the cooking process, brush extra marinade on the wings. Should take around 30-35 minutes.
